Anonymous on Wall Street

An announcement just came out from Adbusters to the effect that the hacker group Anonymous—which has gained recognition lately for its support of Wikileaks—has joined the #occupywallstreet campaign, scheduled for September 17th. We’ve sometimes raised concerns about the extent to which Anonymous’s methods are really nonviolent, but in the video released in their name on Monday, they stress that “this will be a nonviolent protest. We do not encourage violence in any way.”

This is also the first public indication of the duration of the action—“a few months.”
