Announcing an all-new WNV!

We’ve finally done it. After about nine months of development, the all-new Waging Nonviolence website went online this week. No longer are we running on the basic blog platform that we hurriedly developed in 2009 when WNV was just a blog that a few of us would update in our spare time. Now, with new content every day from four active columnists, four promising young correspondents and more than 200 contributors all around the world, we finally have the website that you, the members of our community, deserve. Here are some of the changes you’ll find on the new site:

    • Distinct Features and Blog. While the old format made it difficult to distinguish between major reported feature articles and brief commentaries, the new site enables us to give our best work the spotlight it deserves. It also creates a space on the blog for editors and contributors to riff on the news in more informal ways, as well as to post announcements that might be of interest to our community.
    • Experiments with Truth. Named after the news digests that were once the backbone of the site, Experiments with Truth is now a separate feature where we’ll post excerpts and links to must-read news and analysis across the web. We invite you to discuss these clippings with the WNV community in the comments.
    • Membership Program. We’ve always depended on reader support to keep WNV going, but with the new site we’re taking a big step toward strengthening those relationships. Rather than just giving a one-time donation (though you can still do that), you can now give to Waging Nonviolence through a yearly membership. In addition to great kick-backs, as a member you can join the editors for an annual conference call to discuss the future of the site. Please consider becoming a sustaining member today.
    • Board of Directors. We couldn’t have made it to where we are without the advice and support of some of the leading lights in the nonviolence world. We’ve finally made just a few of those mentoring relationships official by forming a Board of Advisors to honor their contributions and strengthen WNV’s ties to people and organizations that are changing the world around us.

Enjoy your new Waging Nonviolence! As always, feel free to contact us with questions, comments or suggestions.
