R. Joseph Parrott is a Smith Richardson Pre-Doctoral Fellow with Yale’s International Security Studies Program and a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of History at the University of Texas at Austin. He studies the history of solidarity organizing, African decolonization, and popular politics in Europe and the Americas. His current project examines transnational activism in support of Portuguese African freedom fighters and its relationship to the anti-apartheid movement. Follow him @RJParrott_.
